Disaster Relief

As we serve our neighbors in Western North Carolina, here are our donation and volunteer needs.

Donation Needs

St. Peter’s is serving as the primary collection point for Flood Clean-Up Kits and Hygiene Kits. We are collecting both completed kits and individuals items. We use the individual items to assemble kits and deliver to them to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Asheville where they will be distributed to the surrounding communities.

Please deliver or ship kits or kit items to:

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church
6175 St. Peter’s Church Rd
Conover, NC 28613

The Southeastern District of the LCMS has
created Amazon shopping lists for those who are looking to directly send supplies. One list is for flood clean-up and the other is for hygiene kits.

Housing Volunteers

St. Peter’s is uniquely blessed with large facilities and team of volunteers who are gifted in hospitality. We will be hosting volunteers from all over the country and will provide meals, showers, and laundry facilities. A schedule of needs is being compiled.

Volunteer Needs

If you would like to serve by mucking houses and other forms of cleanup, we are directing all potential volunteers to the LCMS Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) for signup. They have created a page for opportunities in October to serve alongside Kris Schuldt, the team lead who is staying at St. Peter’s. To volunteer, please sign up on their website.

There are additional opportunities to serve through LERT in the area:

All LERT volunteers must undergo a background check before participating. You can do this when you sign up for a volunteer event, or you can do so ahead of time.

Financial Donations

While St. Peter’s will accept financial donations, we would prefer to have all financial gifts donated through the Southeastern District Disaster Response Team on their website.
