St. Peter’s Quilters is an organization of retired ladies and gentleman who meet on Monday mornings in the Parish Hall beginning at 8:00 am. We come together to serve the Lord’s mission by providing warmth and comfort to those who are less fortunate than we are. Quilts are made and donated to organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse; local soup kitchens for the homeless in our area; orphanages; Hospice for patients and for a bereaved camp for children who have lost a family member, classmate or friend; school children; and other individuals and organization in need.
It is not all work and no play. We enjoy getting to know each other better and enjoy fellowship together as we work for the Lord and share lunch together.
If you are free on Monday mornings, we would love to have you come and join us.
Members of St. Peter’s sponsor up to 75 backpacks at Lyle Creek Elementary School.
Each school year new backpacks are purchased or donated.
Every Friday morning at 7:15 a group of volunteers pack the bags that may include canned vegetables, chicken, tuna, fruit, soup, cereal, pop tarts, granola bars, ramen noodles, hot chocolate, juice boxes, spaghetti, tomato sauce, oatmeal or grits.
These items are collected in the back hallway, if you would like to make a donation. We are also supplemented by donations from Oxford Baptist Church. Thank you for the blessing of items & time to this program.
If you are interested in volunteering call Oz Hefner @828-320-5650.

Missions are founded on the Great Commission as voiced in Matthew 28:18-20, which states (NIV), “18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Missions are following Christ’s command by sharing the gospel with the lost and weak through God’s wisdom, strength and truth. The Great Commission still applies to Christians today.
Here at St. Peter’s many of our members reach out in love to serve in various mission fields. Some of the missions are listed as follows (but not limited to); Alaska Missions (building projects, vacation bible schools and witnessing to the lost), Haiti Missions (building and medical projects, along with bible school), Quilting Mission (outreach to provide blankets locally and nationally), Backpack Mission (provide food to those that need through school systems), Disaster Relief Mission (care for those in need locally and other states), Helping Hands (locally help those in need), Crocheting Mission (make clothing for people for warmth), LWML (involved outreaching those locally and worldwide), and Safe Harbor (provide safe living environments) . We also do various other small things that people give out of love, such as door offerings (help those as specified throughout the year), “Trunk or Treat” (local outreach to provide safety and food for local families and the feeding of shut-ins at Thanksgiving.
Sometimes we get fatigued, disappointed and beat down, but when you see the face of those that God reaches through you, words cannot express the joy you feel in your heart.
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month to discuss Missions, and feel free to attend meetings if you want to know more.
